This article offers a reading of homoerotic and queer literature in Mexico through the poetics of A. E. Quintero, understood as an heir to a tradition shaped by silence and the symbolic displacement of desire. Drawing on queer theory and literary analysis, it examines the use of prosopopeia and symbolism in Cuenta regresiva (2011) as strategies that inscribe the body and desire through objects, animals, and natural elements. Rather than operating as forms of concealment, these figures intensify homoerotic experience and shape a poetics in which the symbol becomes a corporeal surface and a space of aesthetic affirmation.
