Nudity and Bare Life in The Naked Woman by Armonía Somers

The Naked Woman, by Armonía Somers, exposes the disturbance caused by a naked outsider who bursts into the ordinary life of a town, triggering her persecution and death. I propose an approach to this work based on the notions of nudity and bare life developed by Giorgio Agamben, in order to interpret the protagonist’s nakedness and to highlight the relationship between the abandonment of a pre-established form of femininity, the stripping away of her human status, and the consequent violence inflicted upon her body.
